Hi, I’m Jess. As a family we are always on the lookout for new adventures — from local gems in Aberdeenshire to hidden spots further afield.
Every walk we share is one we’ve enjoyed ourselves. If you find something new or notice an update I should make, please let me know!

🚶♀️ The Walk
This lovely circular walk starts in the forestry area close to the main road, yet remains peaceful and quiet throughout. It’s an excellent hill walk for families, especially those with young children starting to build confidence in walking longer distances.
We followed the white waymarked trail in an anti-clockwise direction. Once at the top, we retraced our steps down the hill, turning left, then taking a right turn that rejoined us with the white trail and led back to the car park. There may be an alternate path behind the tower, although we haven’t tested it—so can’t speak to its suitability for buggies.
🌟 Highlights
🏰 Tappie Tower: The tower at the top is always a hit with the kids! We love stopping here for a snack while the children explore the tower and surrounding paths.
🛤️ Trail Variety: While the main track is wide and buggy-friendly, there are smaller side paths perfect for curious kids who like to explore.
🌄 Stunning Views: The top of the route offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
🚴♀️ Other Activities: Mountain biking and orienteering options are available too—something still on our to-do list!
👶 Buggy-Friendly: The trail is suitable for off-road buggies, with only a couple of obstacles. We’ve managed just fine with both single and double buggies.
