When we visited, there was plenty of free parking available. While there didn't appear to be a charge, it's always worth taking a little loose change with you just in case a parking machine has been installed.
🌲 What makes Bell Wood special?
Bell Wood is a community woodland that's open all year round and offers something for everyone. A network of well-maintained paths winds through the forest, making it easy to explore on foot or by bike.
One of the best things about Bell Wood is its accessibility. Two of the waymarked trails are suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs (please check this again before visiting), making it a great option for families with younger children or anyone looking for an accessible day out.
As you wander through the woodland, keep your eyes peeled for the wide variety of wildlife, plants and fungi that call the forest home.
If you'd like to explore further or plan your route before visiting, you'll find a downloadable trail map and more information on the Mid Deeside website.
For those wanting to stretch their legs a little more, Walk Highlands also features the Belwade Farm, Bell Wood and the Dee circular walk, covering approximately 10km.

A geocaching trail adds an extra layer of adventure for older children (some caches may require a Geocaching Premium subscription).
A brilliant pump track for budding mountain bikers.
Short downhill trails that are perfect for children who are becoming more confident on two wheels.
Plenty of opportunities to spot local wildlife.
Woodland shelters provide a welcome stop for a picnic or somewhere to shelter if the Scottish weather takes a turn!

You'll find plenty of cafés in nearby Aboyne if you're looking for lunch or coffee after your walk. If you're heading back towards Aberdeen, Banchory also has some excellent options too.
